Buying Gifts For
The Hard To Buy For
The most difficult part of buying gifts for people that are
hard to buy for is getting them to just tell you. Even when
they do tell you they will usually try to pick something that
they believe will make it easy on you. They won't usually just
come out and say what they want.

Well I have figured out a way to crack the code. There are a
couple of people in my family that are hard to buy for and I
always manage to get them something that they like now. Buying
the most expensive gift that you can is not the answer
though.
Quite the opposite actually. People that are hard to buy for
are usually the same people that will be uncomfortable if they
think you have spent too much money on them. You want them to
enjoy their gift not feel uncomfortable because of it
Anyway here is the secret formula that I figured out. It is
all about complaining. All you have to do is have a few
conversations and actually pay attention to what they are
saying. Everybody has something that is bugging them and
eventually they will mention it. This does not mean that they
will go on and on about it so you have to pay attention.
It can be a simple thing such as they mention that the
ceiling fan is squeeking and getting on their nerves. Maybe the
buttons are sticking on the remote for their TV. Might be that
they think their tap water taste funny.
All of these examples are easy to fix and are cheap to do
it. The point is that they are grumbling about it instead of
just fixing it themselves. You could just buy them a Brita
water filter at Walmart for about $20 and get them a gift that
they will actually use and appreciate.
One year my wife kept complaining that the bathroom was too
cold in the morning. For Christmas I bought her a $30 space
heater at Walgreens and she was almost as happy as if I had
bought her a new car. If you solve a problem for someone then
they will really appreciate the gift.
So there you go. My whole secret for how I pick out the
right gift. The tap water thing is my wife's current complaint.
I am going to go a little bigger than the Brita filter though.
I am going to spend about $100 on a little reverse osmosis
drinking water system.
A reverse osmosis water system is not what you would think
of as a normal gift for the holidays right. The point is that
she has a problem with something and this will fix that
problem. I can guarantee you that she will love this gift more
than anything else I could get her. The why is easy. She has a
problem so I am going to give her something that will make the
problem go away.
So if you have someone in your life that is hard to buy for.
All you have to do is listen. Then do something that will help
whatever they are complaining about. Hope this helps you out a
little bit.
